Because Everybody Is Entitled To My Opinion

"O LORD, revive thy work in the midst of the years, . . . in wrath remember mercy" (Habakkuk 3:2).
"Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?" (Psalm 85:6)

Summer Blockbuster Sight Gag

You know that because of The Incredible Hulk this summer, there are going to be an endless supply of "Obamanation" jokes. Since I would rather be part of the problem than the solution, here's my contribution. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the Obamanation.

Vote For the Greater Evil

You know I have no idea what "Change" Obama will bring and that's a lot scarier than the change I know Cthulu will bring. Think about it and vote Cthulu 2008!

Whoa! It's Thursday Already?!

Well that caught me off guard. I am really busy at work AND I am preparing for my vacation next week so blogging has taken a back seat for the moment. I plan to post as soon as I get an opening. So no Thursday Thirteen this week and next week is a little iffy.

13 Things About Dane Bramage
13 Fun Facts About Walking

Friends to the rescue again. This time Kathy from Florida sent me an Email with these 13 facts about walking and the benefits of exercise. I may have modified a few.

  1. Walking can add minutes to your life. This enables you at 85 years old to spend an additional 5 months in a nursing home at $7000 per month.

  2. My grandpa started walking five miles a day when he was 60.. Now he's 97 years old and we don't know where the heck he is.

  3. I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people who annoy me.

  4. The only reason I would take up walking is so that I could hear heavy breathing again.

  5. I have to walk early in the morning, before my brain figures out what I'm doing.

  6. I joined a health club last year, spent about 400 bucks. Haven't lost a pound. Apparently you have to go there.

  7. We all get heavier as we get older, because there's a lot more information in our heads. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

  8. If you are going to try cross-country skiing, start with a small country.

  9. I do have flabby thighs, but fortunately my stomach covers them.

  10. If you don't get enough of a workout everyday pulling your own weight or pushing your luck, just add about 1000 diddley squats.

  11. I know I got a lot of exercise the last few years,...... just getting over the hill.

  12. If the benefits of walking aren't readily apparent then look at my mail carrier. He's shaped like Jabba the Hut.

  13. The advantage of exercising every day is so when you die, they'll say, 'Well, he looks good doesn't he.'

So get out there and walk!

In Memoriam: Harvey Korman

2536363244_653e75cfd5.jpgv0

Harvey Korman, comedic genius, passed away May 29th, 2008 at the age of 81. Here's a link to a fine story about his life and career.

I loved watching Harvey on the Carol Burnett Show. I never missed it. He won 4 grammys for his work there. But the role I think everybody will always associate with Harvey is Blazing Saddles'  Hedley Lamarr

Harvey is survived by his wife and four children. Please pray for them.

13 Things About Dane Bramage
13 Photos Scott Emailed Me

I am taking a breather today. My friend Scott emailed me 13 pictures to post for a Thursday 13. This was a no brainer. If you like it then it was my idea and I accept your kudos. If you hate it it's Scott fault and I'll forward your hate mail and be blameless! Anyway here are some pictures of work done by an artist who uses nature as a media. The life sized bear is made from pine needles and the sculptures are carved from antlers.

  1. Scott's accomplishments include writing a newspaper column, authoring a book, and driving a truck from coast to coast. Unfortunately, counting is not among his accomplishments so rather than make this a Thursday 12, I am re-posting a shot of Scott's best side.

This pine cone guy could be the real deal or a hoax. The guy could be a great artist waiting to be discovered or somebody is yanking my chain. You decide. But the last paragraph in the email said, "I know the artist would love to hear from you. Just to know where his art is being seen around the world. He said he would reply to every email and print out every letter for his scrapbook. You can write him here at[email address removed]. His Name is Richard Carpenter." I removed the email address so if you want it email me.
