Let's see he wants it to be a constitutional right for everyone to have a good home. this will "create" construction jobs. Everyone one should have a constitutional right to Healthcare. This will "create" more doctors. And of course changing the constitution to give everyone the right to education giving every ghetto and barrio child an iPod and laptop will "create" teachers!

What he didn't say but should have was that we should change the constitution to guarantee everyone the right to vast wealth. Then magically we "create" money to pay for it all!

I've have been very lax of late with regards to blogging. For that I apologize. Thank God that others have not stopped. I was cruising the Blog Roll and saw that good ole Mark at Chester Street is still spreading the Truth and This particular Truth bears repeating.

Here is what must happen every time you sin and LOSE your salvation.

1. I have to lose my eternal life – which, or course, isn’t eternal if I can lose it.
2. I have to cease to be the new creation and become an old creation again.
3. I have to cease to be a child of God – He has to disown me.
4. I have to again become a child of wrath.
5. I have to cease to be a child of Light and become a child of darkness again.
6. I have to be removed from the body of Christ – un-baptized as it were.
7. I have to come alive again, outside of Christ.
8. I have to get unburied and un-united in my burial with Christ.
9. I have to take myself out of Jesus’ hand.
10. I have to take myself out of the Father’s hand.
11. I have to be transferred back to the kingdom of darkness.

Monday is NOT Presidents Day!

I am really sick and tired of the alleged PC crowd referring to the upcoming holiday as “President’s Day”. It is NOT President’s Day, there is no such holiday. Monday we will be celebrating Washington’s Birthday.

“But Dane, my calendar says President’s Day. Surely calendar makers know what day it is!” You’ll reply.

Apparently they don’t Many calendars list it as President’s Day. Now for some background: Richard Nixon’s executive order declared some holidays to be celebrated on Mondays regardless of when they fell. This was done in ‘68. Washington’s Birthday was one of them. It is still called Washington’s Birthday according to the law books and was first celebrated in ‘71. The confusion arose when people stopped celebrating Lincoln’s birthday which was never an actual Federal holiday. Many states recognized and celebrated Lincoln’s birthday but stopped after 1969. I suppose some genius declared “Hey why not celebrate both birthdays on that Monday”. And thus we get President’s Day.

As a stickler for detail and the truth I still call it Washington’s Birthday.

What's Wrong With Me

Ever since May I have been unable to bring myself to post anything. Oh it is not that liberals in general and the Democrats specifically haven't done anything blogworthy, they have and there are tons of steaming piles of examples to list and poke fun of. But something has sapped my will to blog. Could it be that deep down I know that even if I shine the light of truth and logic on the deeds of Obama, Pelosi and their ilk it doesn't change the fact that they are still in control and still dragging this country straight to Hell? Certainly something to ponder, or tell a shrink.

I am not without hope however. Midterm elections loom before us and maybe Americans will come to their senses and vote the rascals out. I see a lot of support for peole who want to undo Obamacare, and step back from the brink of socialism. Let's hope they have enough support to win in November.

Meanwhile I will have to deal with my POSD or "Post Obama Stress Disorder". He's in charge so it's all his fault right?

Five Years Ago Today..

I started this blog. Yea me! Well I don't keep it updated as much as I would like and I am at a complete loss as to why. I WANT to blog but I don't seem to have the same zeal I did when I started 5 years ago. Could it be that the state of politics in the world and specifically in the U.S. has drained my will to not only post but to live as well? I think that's a big part of it. All I can do about it is to press on.

I plan to stick around for awhile and I promise to post more.

Qaddafi Calls for Jihad on Swiss for Minaret Ban

The Libyan Loon has decided that Switzerland is an enemy to the Islamic people and is calling for Jihad(holy war) against the little European nation.

Muammar Qaddafi also urged Muslims everywhere to boycott Swiss products and to bar Swiss planes and ships from the airports or seaports of Muslim nations.

"Those who destroy God's mosques deserve to be attacked through jihad, and if Switzerland was on our borders, we would fight it," Qaddafi was quoted by Libya's official news agency JANA as saying. He spoke before a gathering marking the birthday of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad in the Libyan city of Benghazi.

Swiss Foreign Ministry spokesman Lars Knuchel declined to comment on Qaddafi's call for a holy war against the neutral Alpine republic.

In November, Swiss voters overwhelmingly approved a constitutional ban on minarets, in a controversial decision that put Switzerland at the forefront of a European backlash against a growing Muslim population.

In case you didn't know, minarets are towers usually with balconies from which the call to prayer is made.

The minaret has been used for centuries by muezzins (Arabic mu'adhdhinun, Muslim criers) for the call to daily prayers, but its original use is unclear. The earliest mosques in Arabia had no minaret, and the first towers in seventh-century Cairo (Egypt) and Damascus (Syria) may not have been built expressly for the call.

Minarets have been designed in many styles over time and space. Early ones were often square or octagonal, some with winding exterior staircases, while the sixteenth-century Ottomans built needle-thin, cylindrical minarets with conical peaks. Today, the muezzin does not always climb the minaret to call for prayers; minarets are often outfitted with loudspeakers.

Swiss officials declare that the ban in no way inhibits muslims from practicing their religion. But the ban on minarets is viewed by many as the most extreme reaction to European concerns about growing muslim populations.

Great Superbowl Ad

Well this ad had an impact that's for sure. Even the pro-abortion crowd hailed it as "brilliant".

David Gibson of Politics daily agrees with Emanuel's analysis

He says the pro-life message "won big" because Focus on the Family "realized that having everyone talk about you is every bit as important as actually doing or saying something controversial."

"For weeks before the big game, the controversy over CBS' decision to reverse its previous policy barring advocacy ads to air the ad against abortion had sent Pam Tebow's story ricocheting around the Internet," he noticed.

"The pushback only generated more support for Tebow and Focus and their message, and had anti-abortion types crowing about how Pam Tebow would be discussing her difficult choice for life and urging Americans to fight abortion," he said of the reaction to pro-abortion groups attacking the ad.

Even though the ad never mentioned abortion, "everyone knew what the ad was about and the ad didn't have to say anything directly -- which is the definition of the perfect advocacy ad."

I thought the ads was very sweet. Tim and his mom were very likable and I think most people watching were glad Pam Tebow did not abort her miracle baby.

But the the pro-abortion crowd was not done. After the ad aired on Sunday, NOW president Terry O'Neil denounced it as promoting violence against women because the football player, tackled his mom.

That was too much for NOW president Terry O'Neill, who told the Los Angeles Times the ad glorified violence against women: "I am blown away at the celebration of the violence against women in it. That's what comes across to me even more strongly than the anti-abortion message. I myself am a survivor of domestic violence, and I don't find it charming. I think CBS should be ashamed of itself." Several newspaper columnists are taking issue with her response and Joe Henderson of the Tampa Tribune said it "trivializes real problems" women face with authentic domestic violence. (snip)
George Diaz of the Orlando Sentinel also took issue with NOW's president.

"Crazy me, I thought we could agree that the Tim Tebow pro-life ad was a nice, family-friendly commercial that in no way could be deemed offensive. I was wrong," he writes. "There’s always a lunatic fringe, ready to scream and yell. Say hello to NOW president Terry O’Neill."

"No, you should be ashamed of yourself for not having a clue. This is why our country is so polarized -- because nitwits like you are so obsessed with your point of view that you have no tolerance for anyone who may disagree with you," Diaz continues.

I Can't Wait For The Superbowl!

I can't wait for the Superbowl this Sunday. Honestly I couldn't tell you who was playing or what kind of seasons each team had. My interest in pro football is usually confined to whether the Browns beat Pittsburgh and Baltimore. Beyond that it trails off significantly.

No my interest in the the Superbowl, keen enough for me to TiVo it, concerns the Superbowl Ads. Every year, I go online after the game and view the ads and many of them are quite clever. But this year I will record them just to catch a single ad. And ad that has stirred up much controversy and is causing liberal women's groups' collective heads to explode. I am talking about Focus on the Family's ad featuring Tim Tebow and his courageous mom who will tell how she, despite recommendations from her doctor to abort Tim for her own health's sake, decided to carry her now famous son to term. This act of pro choice (she chose life) has got NOW in a lather. They have denounced the ad, without even seeing it, as devisive and hurtful to women. The fact that this ad has all these whiny liberal pro-abortion types crying foul only makes me want to see it that much more. The reaction only shows the hypocrisy of "pro-choice". Mrs. Tebow chose life and apparantly she is NOT allowed to speak of her choice because according to the National Organization of Women she didn't choose correctly. And her wrong choice will divde American women who watch it during the Superbowl.

The only way that makes sense is that NOW and PP are afraid that women moved by Mrs. Tebow's testimony may choose life. And while rational thinking human beings still regard this as a choice, NOW doesn't. To them the only choice is murder. And they are so determined that no other point of view be heard that they have petitioned and threatened CBS about airing the ad.

Did I mention that Mrs. Tebow and her son are both Christians? And that Tim has a testimony of being celebate and is waiting until he gets married before having sex? He also puts Bible verses in his eye black during football games? To me that explains the intensity of the hatred and venom of those opposing him and the ad that will air this Sunday. I can't wait.

Milestone and Apology

Okay according to sitemeter, Some time yesterday I had my 50,000th visitor. Yeah me! I find that amazing but also humbling given that last year I only posted 21 items. Now I am sure that my return visitors are probably next to non-existent. And for some reason DOZENS of people show up to see my friend Scott's zipper!

But the numbers are not why I decided to blog in the first place. I think I have something to say and by golly you had better listen!(or don't! It is a free country after all)

I think that with 2010 and the start of a new decade I will renew my pledge to no one in particular, to point out liberal lunacy, hypocrisy and general moonbattery. At the same time exalting Christ and Christian moral values. I have already made some template changes and promise to devote more time and energy to this and and my other blog.

And I hope that the number of returning readers increase. Not that there is anything wrong with people coming to see Scott's ~~stupid zipper tat~~ tastefully thought out and beautifully drawn tattoo. And thank you Scott for being a faithful returning reader.

Backdoor Taxes to Hit Middle Class

I was cruising my blogroll, When I came across a piece by Ace over at Ace of Spades HQ. While President Obama promises to only tax "the wealthy", by letting Bush era tax cuts expire without renewing them he will create a "Stealth Tax Hike" on the middle class. Ace points out the story was on Reuters but is now gone.

Fortunately for now the story can be seen at Yahoo Canada.
Highlights:

In the 2010 budget tabled by President Barack Obama on Monday, the White House wants to let billions of dollars in tax breaks expire by the end of the year -- effectively a tax hike by stealth.

So without technically raising taxes, the Obama administration plans to increase tax revenue by allowing your tax rate to go up on its own. He can of course then claim he kept at least one promise.

So what does this mean to me and you at the end of 2010?

If the provisions are allowed to expire on December 31, the top-tier personal income tax rate will rise to 39.6 percent from 35 percent. But lower-income families will pay more as well: the 25 percent tax bracket will revert back to 28 percent; the 28 percent bracket will increase to 31 percent; and the 33 percent bracket will increase to 36 percent. The special 10 percent bracket is eliminated.

So there you have it. Obama is so good he can raise taxes without doing a thing. That must make him some sort of god in liberal tax and spend circles.

Where Are We Going And Why Are We In This Handbasket?

Well it is time for the first installment of 2010 of WAWGAWAWITH. Todays post is cutesy of Right Wing News Columnist Dr. Melissa Clouthier. In her post Abnormal Psychology Exists: You Are A Woman If You Give Birth. Period. she brings to light the situation of a legally married gay couple. Both born women and Thomas is transgendered while Scott, after having her 36DDD breasts removed, could not afford the gender reassignment surgery and thus has lived as a man in appearance only. They are legally married because some loophole where Scott, born Jessica, retained female status by virtue of her birth certificate.

Well the happy couple have decided to have a child. Scott is pregnant via sperm donation and is due to deliver next month in England. The California couple already has two sons from husband Thomas' previous relationship with a woman who has since died. Got it?
Clouthier says:

You know, there is such thing as abnormal psychology. This is NOT NORMAL. It is one thing to move to Funky Town. It's another thing to start a family there and bring children into this disordered environment.

Pretending that this is not so is akin to the government pretending that a dude with the name Mohammed who acts weird, says he wants to blow things up and then does it, isn't a terrorist.

Society cannot function if we don't have some agreement on what is acceptable social norms. Freaks do not tend to build society, they tend to be around the edges eating away at its success.

Yesterday was the federal holiday known as Martin Luther King’s Birthday, a day set aside to honor the birth of a man who did much for the people of this nation; all people not just black people. I have posted about Dr. King before and have said before that many of the opportunities that I have had which led me to where I am today are due in part to the work of Dr. King.

So I was enjoying my day off from work and thinking about Dr. King and our first Black President (if you don’t count Bill Clinton who claimed the title for himself). President Obama would not be President now if it weren’t for the struggles of Dr. King. The President made speeches and served food in a homeless shelter and dedicated a copy of the Emancipation Proclamation to the memory of Dr. King.

I found the President’s activities curious. You see I think if Dr. Martin Luther King were alive today, he would have little to do with and little good to say about Barack Hussein Obama. Dr. King’s approach to social change was to make America actually live up to the beliefs it professed. A copy of the Constitution would have been more appropriately displayed in the White House since it gave and guarantees freedom for all men born in this country, not the Emancipation Proclamation. President Obama wants to force change down the throats of Americans. And he is not above back room deal making to forward his socialist agenda. He has little respect for the Constitution.

And that point would be the biggest split between Dr. King and President Obama. I believe Dr. King would insist that Barack Obama prove beyond all doubt that he IS an American Citizen and therefore qualifies to be President. I think he would call on the President to cease the closed door sessions of congress on Obamacare and live up to his promise of transparency in government.

Of course I can’t prove any of this. Dr. King was human and had his failings. Had he lived until today would he be as respected as he was in the late sixties or would he be a politically impotent has-been like Jesse Jackson and other survivors of that time?

Well it seems more and more Americans are less happy with President Obama than before. His approval numbers continue to tank and this has the left scrambling to find excuses for it. The latest highly trained political scientist to chime in is Stevie Wonder. I was being sarcastic about the highly trained thing.

I really admire Wonder as an artist. His music has been an inspiration to me at many different points of my life. Many of his songs have made my short list of favorite tunes. BUT I do not believe his status as mega music star gives him any more insight on U.S. politics than anyone else. So why is everybody hanging on his every word about how Obama's declining approval rating is because people are afraid of change?

“I think as far as his [Obama’s] popularity decreasing, I think it’s because people are so used to, they’re so afraid of change and I think you have politics playing too much a role in what should be a natural, given that health care in this country needs to be improved and that’s just a reality,” Wonder told CNSNews.com in an exclusive interview.

And all this time I thought the reason President Obama was elected was because people were embracing change. How do you install a President based on change and then disapprove of him for the same reason? Maybe people disapprove of him in ever increasing numbers because his flawed vision of healthcare reform is just a bad idea? I guess Mr. Obama isn't the sunshine of everybody's life.

I Have to Say Something

I have lost all respect for the Nobel organization. Oh it is not just the shocking news that President Obama won the Peace Prize for, well I am not sure why he won it. We are still in Iraq and Afghanistan and in larger numbers than the Bush days. So I am not exactly sure of what peace they are talking about.

No it is not Obama alone. Let's review. In 2002 they gave Jimmy "The Worse President Evah" Carter a Peace Prize. Granted he does have a post presidential history of humanitarian work, but face it, the prize was a jab at President Bush's policies. As was the 2007 Peace Prize awarded to Al "Global Warming Czar" Gore. Come on. A PEACE prize for global warming? What an affront to everyone who was working towards peace to have the award given to Gore. Was it for his brilliant scientific proofs of the dangers of Global Warming? Nope. Czech President Vaclav Klaus, another climate change skeptic, said the relationship between Mr Gore’s work and world peace was “unclear and indistinct”. But they gave it to him anyway. Remember President Bush resisted the whole Global Warming scam and wouldn't sign the Kyoto accords.

So now our newest Democrat Nobel Laureate is President Obama. An interesting soundbite I heard while surfing the news channels said that the committee would have given the award to anyone who wasn't G. W. Bush. Why do liberals hate that man so?

If you actually took the number of Muslims Americans, we'd be one of the largest Muslim countries in the world.

The article immediately pointed out that even if we had six million Muslims we don't come close to being "one of the worlds largest Muslim Nations".

Having six million Muslims would still put America behind Indonesia, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Turkey, Egypt, Iran, Nigeria, China, Ethiopia, Algeria, Morocco, Afghanistan, Sudan, Iraq, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, Yemen, Tanzania, Syria, Malaysia, Niger, Senegal, Ghana, Tunisia, Somalia, Guinea, Kenya, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Burkina Faso and Tajikistan in number of Muslims, which would make the US the 34th largest Muslim country in the world.

I will be interested to know how the Obama machine plans to spin Barack Obama's gaff. I think it is more bowing-ring kissing-sucking up by the President as he prepares to be awe struck in the Middle East by Islamic leaders again.

Will the Hating Ever Stop?

President Obama is on his way to Prague this week to meet with EU members. The bright and informed citizens of Prague have decided to protest the building of a U.S. missile base there by tossing effigies in the Vltava River of George Bush and Condolezza Rice?

Well didn't anyone tell them that GW was no longer in office? Or weren't they informed that Hillary is the SOS and Condi has returned to private life?

Of course Reuters is all over it with many pictures of the exploits of the dummies throughout the day. Because dummies of GW Bush and Condolezza Rice are so newsworthy.

One would think that if you were to protest the actions of a nation like the U.S. you would direct your ire towards the sitting heads of power. What message are they trying to send? "Tell George and Condi we don't want their stinkin' missile base in the Czech Republic!" Sure thing Jakub. I'll pass that message right along.

I am sure many people, especially on the left, will try to play this down siting all kinds of diplomatic meeting protocols and past Presidential behaviors. But the bottom line is President Obama is suppose to represent America. He claims to be Christian so he is suppose to represent Christ too. In this instance he does neither.

Well according to the widget I put in the sidebar, today marks the 4th anniversary of my starting this blog. Oddly enough I have not posted anything in over a month and lately I find it increasingly difficult to get motivated to post.

Don't get me wrong. I have had many ideas about Obama's winning the election, his handling of the economy to date, and his handling of his critics. I find that I have had some pretty strong opinions about racism in light of the "police shooting monkey" cartoon and the "chimps" book in the midst of the Obama book display. The whole Rush Limbaugh thing But I just can't seem to get myself motivated to put those thoughts to paper, (or computer.) I feel like why should I write when nothing will matter? The liberals are dismantling conservative reforms and really sticking it to the working class. They make no bones about turning America into a socialist cesspool. It makes wanting to write very difficult. Maybe I have a little bit of depression going on. Also one of my favorite things have gone by the wayside. The Thursday Thirteen folded up. I really miss them.

So what am I going to do about it? Well I guess I will have to force myself to post. And I am thinking about another format change. My current blog template is an old throwback to Blogger 1.0. I left it that way so the comics section would display correctly. Well it's been awhile and no one has mentioned the comics. As browsers advance, the little trick that allows the comics to display is failing. So I am going to upgrade my blogger template which means most of the comics go away. You will still see Day by Day and Dilbert.

Let's keep this up for another year and see how I feel then! Thanks for visiting!

Historians Rank George W. Bush Among Worst Presidents

Wow. Roughly 32 days into the Obama era and "historians" have labeled Bush one of the worse 10 Presidents of all time.

The worst presidents, according to the survey, were James Buchanan at 42, Andrew Johnson at 41, Franklin Pierce, William Henry Harrison, Warren Harding, Millard Fillmore, George W. Bush, John Tyler, Herbert Hoover, and Rutherford B. Hayes.

How can that be? I mean they ranked him lower than nut ~~case~~ farmer Jimmy Carter. That fact alone tells me there is political agenda behind the ranking more than an objective look at the presidencies of 42 men.

"How we rank our presidents is, to a large extent, influenced by our own times," Medford said in a news release. "Today's concerns shape our views of the past, be it in the area of foreign policy, managing the economy, or human rights. . . . Lincoln continues to rank at the top in all categories because he is perceived to embody the nation's core values: integrity, moderation, persistence in the pursuit of honorable goals, respect for human rights, compassion; those who collect near the bottom are perceived as having failed to uphold those values."

So if these scholarly historians perceive Bush to be a bad president in the context of today's concerns, they feel justified in putting him in the bottom 10.

U.S. News and World Report mentions another list of 13 Worst Presidents. GWB didn't make it but Nixon did (tied at 9th with Hoover)and Carter was #11. The bold names above made both lists.

Regardless of the current list I think George W. Bush was a good president. I certainly don't think he was one of the 10 or even 20 worst. Time will adjust his position, like it has for Ronald Reagan who has just now cracked the "Top 10 Best Presidents" of these same liberal historians. It takes time for them to figure out what exactly a good president is.

I had often joked about how moonbats had elevated Barack Obama to the status of god. Well the Dutch have really gone the extra mile. A Dutch newspaper actually depicts Obama as God.

But the picture in free newspaper De Pers probably best sums up the mammoth expectations of the world on President Obama's shoulders. It prints a rendition of Raphael's The Transfiguration with the first black US president depicted as Jesus, flanked by two prophets, the clouds looming behind him lit up. The headline reads "Black Jesus has come".

True feelings or paper selling hype? I thought the latter until I read a little farther.

The Dutch Crown Prince Willem-Alexander told a press conference in Dubai that the inauguration of Barack Obama was "probably more important than the release of Nelson Mandela".

The election of the United States' first black President was monumental but I seriously doubt President Obama faced the persecution Nelson Mandela did. I get the feeling that there are a great many people whose grasp of reality is tenuous at best.

Yesterday was the historic inauguration of Barack Hussein Obama as the 44th President of the United States of America. Liberals celebrated the Great Obama Love Fest worldwide.

In Sweden, African-American singer Cyndee Peters was hosting a show named "A Gala for Obama," featuring dozens of Swedish soul, jazz, hip-hop, gospel, folk and blues artists.

"Obama fever is all over the whole world," said Peters, 62, who grew up in North Carolina and New York. "I was congratulated by I don't know how many Swedes after the election. I think what he stands for needs to be celebrated."

"No one is doing their favorite songs or greatest hits," Peters added. "We're doing songs about hope."

In London, Americans could get free admission to Madame Tussaud's waxworks to see the new figure of Obama, and Queen Elizabeth II sent the new president a personal message of support. Parties were scheduled in dozens of venues, from ritzy hotels to local sports bars.

Not everyone ushered in the new era with celebration and well wishing.

In Iran, protesters burnt posters of U.S. President-elect Barack Obama and waved flags in support of Gaza, Reuters reported.

"Where are the freedom seekers?" one poster read that had the word "Gaza" on it and a picture of a weeping Palestinian, Reuters reported. Demonstrators waved Palestinian flags and chanted "Death to Obama," outside the Swiss embassy, and Reuters said it obtained pictures of Obama's image laid on the road for cars to drive over

So much for Mr. President's universal appeal. In some ways this is a very important development and one I am sure the MSM, Democrats and liberals will fail to see. Haters don't care if your black, white or brown. The Iranian protesters showed just as much hate for President Obama, as they did for former President Bush. What people should take away from this is that the "New Era" replete with warm fuzzies of "hope and Change" is over already. The image that the media had built up of President Obama as some universally likable bringer together of different interests was mocked, stoned, run over by cars and burned. The man in the Oval Office today is hated by the middle east Muslims like his predecessors were. Let there be no delusions about that.

And please somebody, anybody tell me what this "New Era" is? How is it different from the old era? When Bush took over from Clinton was that a "New Era" too? Or are only Democrats allowed to have "New Eras"?

The world lost a very distinctive voice and an most unique personality Dec 25th. Veteran actress, singer, dancer Eartha Kitt died at 81.

Through the 1950s and '60s, she performed on stage and television, in films and nightclubs.

Her best-known TV performance was as Catwoman on the '60s series Batman. Her distinctive purr was later featured in the animated film The Emperor's New Groove and the Disney Channel series The Emperor's New School, for which she won Emmy Awards in 2007 and 2008.

The biggest controversy of her career occurred in 1968, when she spoke out against the Vietnam War at a White House luncheon hosted by first lady Lady Bird Johnson.

She was investigated by the FBI and the CIA and subsequently worked almost exclusively overseas. She later returned and, in 1978, was the toast of Broadway performing in Timbuktu.

Just before she died I had downloaded several of her songs including "I Want to Be Evil" I also have a copy of her version of "Santa Baby" which was certified gold last month. Earth Kitt had one child, a daughter Kitt Shapiro from her marriage to John Barry Ryan. Kitt said this of her mother:

"I had the most amazing mother. She was not afraid of dying. She was in pain, but funny right to the end. One of the last things she said when I was talking loudly to her - like you do to a sick person - was: 'I'm dying. I'm not losing my hearing!'
"And she said, 'There won't be a burial. I'll be cremated. I don't want to take up space.'
"My mother had no regrets. She said: 'I have lived an amazing life. I did everything I ever dreamed of.' I was truly, truly blessed to have landed in her lap."

Eartha Kitt had to rise above an early life of abuse and her story is inspiring. I hope that at some point she was able to come to the saving Grace and Knowledge of Jesus. Please pray for her daughter and two grandchildren.

Cynthia McKinney is a special kind of stupid in my opinion. Think about it. She was a democrat and they hung her out to dry. then she joined the Green Party. So what Green Party doctrine promotes aid to the Palestinians? You probably heard about McKinney's boating incident. She was carrying aid to the Gaza Strip. She was doing it with the help of the Free Gaza Movement. She wants President-Elect Obama to denounce Isreal in the strongest possible terms.

I think the loss of her seat in congress has rattled her brain. She doesn't handle her insignificance very well and is prone to act out these bizarre impulses in search for relevance. It's not working Cindy. But Thanks to Mike Lester we know what to do the next time we need a clown to do something stupid.

When I took my hiatus back in the Summer, I stopped participating in the Thursday Thirteen. When I started up blogging again I couldn't find the time needed to do the meme on a weekly basis. I told myself that I would start fresh and anew in 2009. Well it seems that the T13 people have decided they will no longer maintain the meme hub. So after 175 weeks, Thursday Thirteen has come to an official end. It may be possible that someone else may step up and take over the duties, after all the people who ran it recently took it over from the original founder. If that happens then I will no doubt start participating in 2009 like I planned. If not I have over 80 posts of lists of 13s in my archive. some were a lot of fun. 5 convicted of plotting to kill Fort Dix soldiers

Well a jury has convicted five muslims of plotting to kill U.S. soldiers at Fort Dix. The jury deliberated for six days before reaching the guilty verdict.

The yearlong investigation began after a clerk at a Circuit City store told the FBI that some customers had asked him to transfer onto DVD some video footage of them firing assault weapons and screaming about jihad.

The FBI then used two informants to infiltrate the gang and gather information. The defendant's lawyers, muslims and liberals are all screaming entrapment. They believe the government created the conspiracy with their informants. The five defendants bought guns and went to Pennsylvania to train. They also purchased and watched "inspirational" jihad videos. Muslims leaders insist that the men were just joking.

"I don't think they actually mean to do anything," said Mohamed Younes, president of the American Muslim Union. "I think they were acting stupid, like they thought the whole thing was a joke."

Overall this article from AP plays up the role of the FBI informants and points out the overall general failure of the U.S. to prosecute domestic terrorists in other cases. It is obvious who they are rooting for quoting one of the defendants' mother telling everyone what a good boy her son and his friends are. Maybe the jury didn't buy it seeing how willing the good ole Muslim boys were to consider killing U.S. soldiers even as a joke.

In Memoriam: Majel Barrett Roddenberry

Majel Roddenberry passed away today. While every trekker knows of her work in ST:TOS, ST:TNG, ST:DS9, ST:V, she was also involved in getting other Roddenberry projects to television. And she was genuinely a nice lady. I had the privilege of meeting and talking to her in person a few years back when she was the guest of honor at the Gen Con Game Fair. She walked right up to us while we were siting in the atrium of the Hyatt and asked us about the game we were playing. We talked for several minutes before she moved on. Very friendly.

The story says she passed away from leukemia. Please pray for her family.

For two days now I have heard nothing but "Bush Dodges Shoes". The media seems to delight in repeating the scene and pointing out the fact that it is an Arab insult. And if you listened to the news you'd swear that every Iraqi hates Bush and would like to bury him under a pile of footwear. I know that is not the case but it is just another shining example of anti- Bush bias.

It really trips my gag reflex to see the MSM fall all over themselves trying to besmirch the last days of Bush in preparation for the crowning of the Obamessiah. It is petty and disgraceful and totally expected.

I haven't said much of anything since the election. I attribute that to being so disappointed in the whole election and being really busy with other things.

I have been watching with interest the situation in Georgia (the state) and Minnesota. I can't shake this unclean feeling whenever I think about some of the political contests that took place and are still going on. Eww.

The thing that I watch with most interest is Obama's choices for his cabinet. Most are old Clinton cronies, a fact that has the President-elect taking criticism. So I want to ask all the voters for "CHANGE" if they feel they are getting what they voted for? Or do they feel like they are setting up for Clinton Term 3? I find it ironic that Obama says he needs to call on people with political experience. Obviously since he has none of his own.

Finally I have one last thing to say about Obama's eligibility to be POTUS. If he is a natural born citizen of the U.S. than why did he have his COLB sealed? Doesn't seem like the sort of activity a person aspiring to the highest office in the land would engage in. If he is NOT eleigible and he knows it, how will he reconcile his oath as President of the United States to uphold the constituion? Again eww.

Bring Out Your Dead - So the Mormons Can Baptize Them

I will criticize Islam without hesitation but normally I wait until others cults do something remarkably stupid before I say anything. This is one of those times. In most religions once you are dead, there is nothing the living can do for you. You've gone on to what ever reward is prescribed by your belief. Two notable exceptions are Catholicism and Mormonism. I have heard of the Catholic High mass where for a fee the priests will pray a loved one out of Hell's waiting room called Purgatory and into Heaven. I don't know much about the practice so I have no details. If you do, feel free to leave them in the comments.

The Mormons really have a thing for dead people. They have been known to marry dead women and to posthumously baptize dead people. The latter practice has gotten them in Dutch with Jewish Holocaust survivors

Using genealogy records, the church also baptizes people who have died from all over the world and from different religions. Mormons stand in as proxies for the person being baptized and immerse themselves in a baptismal pool.

Only the Jews have an agreement with the church limiting who can be baptized, though the agreement covers only Holocaust victims, not all Jewish people. Jews are particularly offended by baptisms of Holocaust victims because they were murdered specifically because of their religion.

Michel suggested that posthumous baptisms of Holocaust victims play into the hands of Holocaust deniers.

I am a fundamental Baptist. Baptism is one of two ordinances Jesus commanded the church to follow. He instructed the Apostles who instructed their followers who instructed their followers all the way down to me, on who should be baptized, why they should be baptized and how they should be baptized. And guess what, He said nothing about baptizing dead people. So I have to side with the Jews on this one.

Well it seems that tree huggers in California were dealt a defeat by the Supreme Court. The whiny environmentalists made some rather bold unsubstanciated claims that Naval sonar hurt marine mammals. They had lowers courts actually limit the Navy's use of sonar during exercises off the California Coast.

The court, in its first decision of the term, voted 5-4 that the Navy needs to conduct realistic training exercises to respond to potential threats by enemy submarines.

Now that Obama is President-elect, does that mean that America is past racism? If so then we can do away with the so called hate crimes laws. I mean we have proven we don't hate anymore as a nation so we should be able to get back to judging crimes based on the criminal and not the socio-political/ethnic background of the victim right? After all we aren't racist anymore because we elected a black man President right? What's your thought?

And while it may be difficult for me to swallow, I have come to terms with the inevitable Obama Presidency. I can visualize Barak Hussein Obama as America's executive leader, far more easily than I can visualize Michelle Obama as First Lady. But to be 100% honest I think She'll be a better First Lady than Teresa Heinz Kerry would have been. What do you think?

Funny how I'm a hater because I oppose Obama. I don't oppose him because he is black. I oppose him because he supports abortion, he's inexperienced, and he is a tax and spend democrat. My family wasn't voting to make history. My family is mostly clueless, well my sister is clueless (he he). My family voted for Obama because he is black. I'm sorry but I got past the man's color on day one and evaluated the content of his character. Needless to say I found him wanting. If you voted for him because he's black or because you somehow felt this country had to prove something by electing a black president then you put him in office for the wrong reasons. Yeah Grandma had it tough, but those days are gone. Change has come and believe it or not the agents of change were not liberal Democrats. If you had bothered to listen to McCain's concession speech, you would have heard him mention how outraged people were when Teddy Roosevelt invited Booker T. Washington to the White House. The loudest objectors? Segregationalists all of whom were Democrats.

The historical significance is not lost on me. It was greatly diminished because it was so politicized. The nature of partisan politics has the Democrats breaking their arms patting themselves on the back as if they had some great hand in bringing this about. They didn't.

Historically Democrats have always opposed better race relations. They don't mention the contribution of Republicans to making Barak's moment possible. You know, men like Hiram Revels, the first black man elected Senator (of Mississippi no less) and a Republican. Your boy Barak would never had been heard of if Hiram hadn't paved the way. Democrats tried to block Hiram's entry into the senate. Nor have I forgotten that the staunchest opponents to Civil rights were Democrats.

Sure Barack can have his moment in history but it would have happened without him eventually. He should consider himself blessed to have been chosen but I suspect he is too full of himself and his "historical significance" to give credit where credit is due. And in January, when he starts his job as President of the United States, we will see if he is worthy of this historical honor. It would be a shame if the most significant thing of the Obama Presidency was the fact that he was credited with being the first black POTUS.

Well they declared Obama the winner and McCain gave his concession speech. Our next President will be Barack Hussein Obama. Unless he is somehow declared unqualified because he is not a U.S. citizen. But what are the chances that a Democrat controlled Administration would launch an investigation into his citizenship.

Oh well. I would like to thank my family who overwhelmingly voted for Obama. NOT! They completely neutralized and reversed my carefully researched and thought out decision for McCain. I will be more than happy when the economic roof caves in to stand and laugh at them and say "I told you so!" Bitter? Oh just a tad but not to the degree moonbats were after the second bush victory. No Post Traumatic Obama Syndrome for me.

What else, oh yeah. Gains in the senate. Ohio turns blue with democrats in control. The only electoral joy I had today was the local casino bill went down in flames. In fact all the state and local issues went the way I wanted. Thank you Lord for small blessings.

So now what? McCain gave an awesome concession speech. The man has dignity and poise and said some very encouraging things. But unfortunately I was watching PBS and they chimed in afterwards with commentary using words like "rhetoric" and "archaic". In fact the whole MSM seemed lock in the midst of an Obama lovefest the entire day.

I guess that means for the next four ears at least, I will be scrutinizing and making fun of President Obama and his administration. I wonder if Comedy Central will put on a sitcom "That's My Obama". I'd think it would be funny but you know liberals.

Every Vote Shall Count (unless they are for McCain)

Remember the mantra of the Democrats in 2000 and 2004 about every vote counting? They kept coming up short so they wanted every single vote to be counted. Well it seems that in light of a close call election seemingly in their favor, they want to discard military votes. In Virginia, several counties and cities mailed out absentee ballots late to our military personnel in Iraq. McCain's people had to file a suit to get the ballots counted which, through no fult of our military, will arrive after tonight's 7PM deadline. A judge has ordered that the ballots be preserved for the hearing.

U.S. District Judge Richard Williams said Tuesday that he will hear the lawsuit on Nov. 10. He ordered election officials to keep the late-arriving ballots until then.

The McCain campaign praised William's decision.

"This will help to ensure that local election officials do not destroy or dispose of these ballots before the court has had an opportunity to rule on our complaint," spokeswoman Gail Gitcho said in a written statement.

I ran across this little item over at David Drake. Another shining example of the "religion of peace". A group of militants intercepted a recent convert to Christianity and beheaded him in public.

Mohammed remained calm with an expressionless face, never uttering a word, said the eyewitness. As the chanting of “Allah Akubar [God is greater]” rose to a crescendo, one of the militiamen twisted his head, allowing the other to slit his neck. When the head was finally severed from the torso, the killers cheered as they displayed it to the petrified crowd.

Wake up world before it is too late. Islam converts by the sword and will not hesitate to kill infidels and traitors when they can get away with it.

Oh My Aching Blog

I am not dead. Just thought I would let you know. I have been busy with real life stuff. The economy is affecting lots of people I know and not in a happy good way. Worst of all, lots of highly intelligent, sober individuals plan to vote for Obama. I can barely stomach the thought of President Obama. So that in a nutshell is the source of my malaise. So in no particular order here are some things that have been weighing on my mind.

The Ohio Election
How can an obvious partisan political hack like Ohio SoS Jennifer Brunner get away with a blatant attempt to undermine the voting process. Remember her "Vote Early" plan allowed anyone to both register and vote on the same day during the last week of September, before identities could be verified. Opponents filed a suit and a judge ruled that her plan did not give the state sufficient time to validate the registrations and would be prone to fraud. Brunner appealed and the ruling was overturned by, not surprisingly, a Clinton appointed judge.

I don't think there will be mass voter fraud at the Ohio polls next week, but the whole process is suspect now. There has already been numerous charges of fraud and what do you do when the person who is suppose to oversee the process is the one who allowed it to be abused in the first place?

Baseball
I guess if you are a fan the fact that the Rays made it to the Series is exciting. Not so exciting that they lost to the Phillies. But I am not a fan.

I Hear Dead People
I downloaded Issac Hayes's cover of "By The Time I Get To Phoenix" from emusic.com . It is every bit as good as I remember it from being a kid. Interestingly, Hayes stiffed his church. The Church of Scientology got zip from him in his will. Given that they are all about the money, I wonder if they are going after some of his estate.

Sick Friends
Pray for my friends who are sick. Some of them very so. Especially Dave. He isn't doing well. Here is a recent photo. I may have had to adjust it a little.

I don't want to catch what he's got. Okay maybe I adjusted it a lot. I just wanted to graphically portray just how sick he was. And before you say anything; I am not sick, I am just disturbed. (BTW this is just a little inside joke between me and Dave).

In Memoriam: Paul Newman

Another great has passed away. Paul Newman died last Friday at the age og 83. Everything that I think of would sound cliche about this man and his monumental talent. It is tough for me to pick a favorite movie of his. He did so many in his 50+ year career. I guess "Cool Hand Luke" is the one I think of the most although "Slapshot" was a guilty pleasure of mine for decades.

My prayers to his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

9/11 Lest We Forget

It was seven years ago today that terrorists attacked us by flying planes into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and flight 93 which was thought to be headed for Washington D.C. but was stopped by the brave passengers.

Ann Coulter had a great article today pointing out that there has not been a subsequent 9/11 type attack since President Bush started the war on terror. And that is an important point. Many American civilians lost their lives seven years ago but not a single one since. And for that I am very grateful and thankful. Thankful for the American soldiers who paid the price to ensure no more of their countrymen would would die as a victim of a cowardly attack or as a hero trying to rescue those who needed help. Again I say thank you although those words are hardly adequate.

I just want everyone who reads this to take a moment and reflect on what price was paid and the benefit we have reaped for seven years because of it. Then I want you to think of the liberal moonbats who want to get into office who don't believe in the war on terror, who think we are wasting our time in Iraq and who refuse to acknowledge the role President Bush and his administration has played in keeping America safe for these past seven years. Think about them and remember them in November.

The End is Here

The world will end on Wednesday. I'm maxing out my credit cards. After reading Meet Evans the Atom, who will end the world on Wednesday There is little time left for this world. Well not really. On Wednesday CERN will be using their LHC or Large Hadron Collider to slam sub atomic particles together at the near the speed of light. Dr. Lyn evans, also known as "Evans the Atom", seeks to unlock the mysteries of the universe.

The aim of the £4.4billion experiment is to recreate the conditions that existed a fraction of a second after the Big Bang – the birth of the universe – and provide vital clues to the building blocks of life.

It will track the spray of particles thrown out by collisions in a search for the elusive Higgs Boson, a theoretical entity that supposedly lends weight, or mass, to the elementary particles. So important is this mysterious substance that it has been called the ‘God Particle’.

God Particle indeed. £4.4 billion is a lot of money to try to prove the universe exploded out of nothing. But the religion of science and the Big Bang is not without it's prophets of doom. At least two scientist believe the experiment will destroy the earth from within. One of these prophets is Professor Otto Rossler. He says;

‘Nothing will happen for at least four years,’ he said. ‘Then someone will spot a light ray coming out of the Indian Ocean during the night and no one will be able to explain it.

‘A few weeks later, we will see a similar beam of particles coming out of the soil on the other side of the planet. Then we will know there is a little quasar inside the planet.’

Prof Rossler said that as the spinning-top-like quasar devoured the world from within, the two jets emanating from it would grow and catastrophes such as earthquakes and tsunamis would occur at the points they emerged from the Earth.

The other scientist is from Hawaii.

Meanwhile Dr Walter Wagner, an American scientist who has been warning about the dangers of particle accelerators for 20 years, is awaiting a ruling on a lawsuit he filed a fortnight ago in his home state of Hawaii.

He fears the experiments might unwittingly create something he calls a ‘strangelet’ that could result in a fusion reaction that might ultimately turn the Earth into a supernova, or an exploding star.

So wednesday sometime, the Earth dies screaming from quasars or strangelets. You choose. Personally I do not believe in the Big Bang. I believe "In the beginning God created..." I believe this experiment might yeild some useful information on how matter and energy interacts and could open up some new areas of research. If it succeeds. Even Evans is afraid that the whole thing might breakdown at some critical moment. What wont happen is the end of the world or conclusive evidence that the universe "banged" into existence. I'm sure they will find lots of data that has to be studied before they can prove or disprove their theories. After all 9 billion dollars is a lot of money to spend and then say "Oh I guess we were wrong".

But the whole thing has produced an intersting Rap Video.

Opium Brides of Afghanistan

Here is an old story. I actually found it in June before my blogging hiatus. Opium Brides of Afghanistan tells about the hard times that have befallen poppy growers in Afghanistan. Since the government/military crackdown on drug trafficking, these poor souls have had to sell their daughters to pay their debts to drug lords! As appalling as that fact is in and of itself, what I found more disturbing was the tone of the article which was way too dismissive of the practice and almost tries to justify farmers growing poppies as a way of life. Must be the liberal drug culture pushing it's agenda. I mean I personally believe that growing poppies for drugs is despicable. And having to sell your daughter because some drug lord fronted you the money for your cash crop and the government came and burned your plants; well that is beyond disgusting.

The reporter tries to garner sympathy for the father but a man who would sell his daughter is no father. People who default to drug traffickers often wind up dead. And yet that has not stemmed the tide of farmers after the easy money, little though it is.

An estimated 500,000 Afghan families support themselves by raising poppies, according to the U.N. Office on Drugs and Crime. Last year those growers received an estimated $1 billion for their crops—about $2,000 per household.

The man in the article is selling his 9 year old daughter to a 45 year old man because he owed $2000. Oh he tried to flee but was caught and forced by tribal elders to give his little girl away.

The article goes on to say that promoting the farming of other goods has failed.

Wheat or corn brings $250 an acre at best, while poppy growers can expect 10 times that much. Besides, poppies are more dependable: hardier than either wheat or corn and more tolerant of drought and extreme heat and cold. And in a country with practically no government-funded credit for small farmers, opium growers can easily get advances on their crops.

So what we have here is a situation where a man trying to make $2000 growing poppies has his crops destroyed and is forced to turn over his 9 year old baby girl to some lecherous 45 year old drug lord and it is all legitimized by Islamic law. My sympathy lies only with the little girl who will have her life destroyed because her father didn't think raising wheat would support his ten kids but facilitating the making of opium and heroin to ruin other lives would.

McCain Picks Sarah Palin as Running Mate.

And all I can think of is why? Don't get me wrong, she has some impressive credentials and she is more conservative than McCain and she is more man than both democratic candidates combined. But she has been Governor of Alaska for less than two years. Why spend an entire campaign blasting Obama for his inexperience and then select someone with less experience as your choice for veep? Of course I am not taking into account her stint as Mayor of Wasilla.

Sarah was not my first choice, in fact she was not on my short list. I can not help but wonder if McCain was thinking of trying to lure disgruntled Hilary Clinton supporters to his ranks this November.

Still I think she will do well as VP. McCain's choice seems to have the Democrats at a loss for words. It will be interesting to see how the McCain/Palin duo reacts to the Gustov situation in New Orleans as oppossed to the Obama/Biden team.

Da Da Dot Da Da, I'm Loathing It (And Leaving IT)

There is a bit of a brouhaha over fast food giant McDonalds support of the gay and lesbian agenda. The American Famaily Assoiciation has called for a boycott of McDonalds after they donated money to the National Gay Lesbian Chamber of Commerce and a McDonald's executive, Richard Ellis serves on the the NGLCC board of directors. But McDonald's tried to play if off.

McDonald's spokesman Bill Whitman says the company has made a financial contribution to the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, and a McDonald's executive serves on the chamber's board. He insists that doesn't mean that McDonald's supports "a particular lifestyle or same-sex marriage."

Excuse me? Giving money to a cause is called "supporting" that cause. Now McDonald's may have a "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy with their employees so whatever Mr. Ellis does in his own time is his business. BUT; McDonald's released a press statement saying they were overjoyed to be helping the NGLCC, which sounds like an endorsement to me. They also tried to claim that the organization only helps to provide business opportunities to gay and lesbian entrepreneurs. But the NGLCC's own website says they also lobby congress to pass gay agenda items like same sex marriage. However you slice it, Macdonald's is in bed, so to speak, with the gay lesbian agenda.

The AFA is asking people to contact McDonald's and tell them they should remain neural in the cultural war. Neutral? Cultural war? If it is a war then if you are on one side you should be asking people to join your side, not become or remain neutral. If this is a cultural war then the AFA is surrendering. I say boycott McDonald's until they live up to their claim of being "family friendly". Family friendly organizations do not support causes that would destroy the family. I'll miss sausage McMuffins the most.

Poll shows McCain in 5-point lead over Obama

After being ahead most of the summer, Barack Obama's lead in the polls has evaporated. John McCain has a 5 point lead according to a Zogby poll. What could be happening to the Obamassiah's credibility? Hmmm, could be that all the policy reversals he's been going through.

"That hairline difference between nuance and what appears to be flip-flopping is hurting him with liberal voters," Zogby said.

I love how liberals think that reversing your position occasionally is considered "nuanced" but too much is flip-flopping. So who is jumping the Obama ship? No one group in particular. I seems his support is eroding across all his followers.

The dip in support for Obama, who would be the first black U.S. president, cut across demographic and ideological lines. He slipped among Catholics, born-again Christians, women, independents and younger voters. He retained the support of more than 90 percent of black voters.

I have made it no secret that I do NOT support Obama nor will I vote for him. I do challenge my fellow African Americans to explain to me what it is exactly that Obama offers as a black candidate. I mean aside from the historical footnote of being the first black POTUS, do the 90% of blacks that support Obama think that once he is in office, he's going to usher in some new age of black prosperity? Is he going to throw open the governmental coffers and pay every black person for all the persecution suffered at the hands of "Mr. Charlie" all those years? Why would you support an absolute novice based solely on race? Inquiring minds want to know.

While I Was Away

Ever have one of those periods where no matter what you did things just continued to colapse? Or every time you took two steps forward you were forced one step back? Me too. And it started for me around the end of June and continues still. I won't bore you with my whiny details, I'll just say that I had little desire to do anything but sleep. Well I see a light at the end of the tunnel, and every fiber of my being tells me it is an oncoming train. Oh well. bottom line is I have gotten some energy back and I am fighting the malaise that had crippled me. So I am posting again. Yea me!

So what has been going on? Well Obama has been flip flopping like a Kerryfish out of water. First he will debate, now he won't. First he won't go to Iraq, then he went with the entire MSM in tow. First he found comments made by Bernie Mac offensive, then he didn't but then he sent a messenger around to say that he really did. It must have been the Angel of Death because Bernie died shortly after the Obamassiah expressed his disapproval. I can't help but wonder if Barack also disapproved of Issac Hayes or maybe his messenger just made a pit stop in Memphis on the way back. Xenu rest his soul.

McCain has been gaining in the polls, or more precisely, Obama is slipping. I don't think John is doing much of anything and is improving. That scary fact is very revealing about this up coming election. Ennui abounds and no one seems concerned about little things like "issues".

Meanwhile the Democrat led congress has reached it's lowest approval rating in history. 9%. Wow. I know a number of Americans, myself included, had to cancel vacation plans this year due to runaway gas prices and skyrocketing costs. I guess while they were staying around the house they took a good hard look at the job Pelosi and company's been doing and were not impressed.

I think the choices for veep will be important. Hillary has said she did not want to be nominated but who really believes that? Of course her chances were slim and none. Barack has more sense than that. Standing between Hillary and the Presidency, he might as well have just painted a big bullseye on his back and just waited for her to plow through him to get to the oval office. And you thought hunting with Dick Cheny was dangerous.

Well the Olympics arrived and the U.S. leads in total medals by a slim margin over China. Though China has almost twice as many gold medals as the U.S. I am glad for Mike Phelps though! Way to represent Mike! And I loved the interview with Mark Spitz. What a gracious athlete. Of course the old joke has to be put to rest now. You know the one, "How do you fill an Olympic Pool? Mark Spitz." I guess some things you need to let go of.

I am looking forward to the conventions and I am sure I will have things to say about both of them. So come back and hopefully I can keep the non-blogging blues at bay.

I have been using the Flock browser almost exclusively ever since my Netscape browser self-destructed and loaded Flock in it's wake. So I really haven't opened IE in about a month. Well imagine my surprise when I opened IE and loaded Dane Bramage to find that the text of my Summer Blockbuster Sight Gag post wasn't showing. To those of you who didn't see the text and wondered what the heck I was doing I apologize. To those of you who didn't see the text and got the joke, congratulations!

I heartily recommend Flock. It's got some much in one place. The only downside is it doesn't interface with all email and photo services.

Friends to the rescue again. This time Kathy from Florida sent me an Email with these 13 facts about walking and the benefits of exercise. I may have modified a few.

Walking can add minutes to your life. This enables you at 85 years old to spend an additional 5 months in a nursing home at $7000 per month.

My grandpa started walking five miles a day when he was 60.. Now he's 97 years old and we don't know where the heck he is.

I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people who annoy me.

The only reason I would take up walking is so that I could hear heavy breathing again.

I have to walk early in the morning, before my brain figures out what I'm doing.

I joined a health club last year, spent about 400 bucks. Haven't lost a pound. Apparently you have to go there.

We all get heavier as we get older, because there's a lot more information in our heads. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

If you are going to try cross-country skiing, start with a small country.

I do have flabby thighs, but fortunately my stomach covers them.

If you don't get enough of a workout everyday pulling your own weight or pushing your luck, just add about 1000 diddley squats.

I know I got a lot of exercise the last few years,...... just getting over the hill.

If the benefits of walking aren't readily apparent then look at my mail carrier. He's shaped like Jabba the Hut.

The advantage of exercising every day is so when you die, they'll say, 'Well, he looks good doesn't he.'

So get out there and walk!

I loved watching Harvey on the Carol Burnett Show. I never missed it. He won 4 grammys for his work there. But the role I think everybody will always associate with Harvey is Blazing Saddles' Hedley Lamarr

I am taking a breather today. My friend Scott emailed me 13 pictures to post for a Thursday 13. This was a no brainer. If you like it then it was my idea and I accept your kudos. If you hate it it's Scott fault and I'll forward your hate mail and be blameless! Anyway here are some pictures of work done by an artist who uses nature as a media. The life sized bear is made from pine needles and the sculptures are carved from antlers.

Scott's accomplishments include writing a newspaper column, authoring a book, and driving a truck from coast to coast. Unfortunately, counting is not among his accomplishments so rather than make this a Thursday 12, I am re-posting a shot of Scott's best side.

This pine cone guy could be the real deal or a hoax. The guy could be a great artist waiting to be discovered or somebody is yanking my chain. You decide. But the last paragraph in the email said, "I know the artist would love to hear from you. Just to know where his art is being seen around the world. He said he would reply to every email and print out every letter for his scrapbook. You can write him here at[email address removed]. His Name is Richard Carpenter." Video Purportedly Showing Space Aliens Shown

A man has screened a 3 minute video purportedly showing space aliens to a press conference.

Jeff Peckman, who has proposed the city of Denver create an 18-member extraterrestrial affairs commission, screened the video for the media Friday at Metropolitan State College.

We are not alone as that grainy black-and-white video clearly shows. We are indeed surrounded by idiots. Extraterrestrial life landed in Nebraska and sought out our brightest minds. And then attempted to communicate using the universal language; Peek-A-Boo.

The video was taken on July 17, 2003, in Nebraska by Stan Romanek, according to Alejandro Rojas, the education director of the Mutual UFO Network, who spoke at Friday's press conference.

Rojas said Romanek set up the camera because he feared Peeping Toms were stalking his teen daughters, according to the Post.

And he was right! Peeping Toms from another world! Were these lonly E.T.s looking for some hot monkey love? An interstellar booty call perhaps? Or were they genuinely seeking to make first ~~base~~ contact and were mistakenly drawn to the second floor window by teen pheromones? With those big eyes it is possible they were simply drawn to the light like normal bug-eyed monsters.

Peckman did not release the video to FOX News.

"It's under agreement right now and negotiations are under way to create a documentary out of this for widespread use," Peckman said.

Ah now I see. The aliens brought us a message of peace. And these people are negotiating the film rights before the whole world can bask in the glory that is alien contact. Makes perfect sense to me.

Of course the whole thing smells like a hoax, not that I would have believed it were the video 3 hours long and shot in high definition color. Either the old man was right and some hot-blooded boys were trying to check out his daughters with a mock alien head, or the whole thing was staged so that people could make a buck.

Vets for Freedom

Here are a couple of internet ads done by the Vets for Freedom posing the question to Barack Obama; "Why won't you visit Iraq to see first hand the success our military is having?"

And a good question it is. Obama has said he would NOT visit Iraq and he has made no effort to meet with General Patreaus to be briefed. This is not the kind of behavior we should accept from a potential future CIC. There really is no excuse for not wanting to know what is going on in Iraq regardless of how you feel about the war. It looks bad, really really bad.

And apparently Obama knows this now. He has ~~flip-flopped~~ softened his position on visiting the troops and says he will consider a trip. How political of him.

13 Memorial Day Memories

I had a wonderful Memorial Day so I thought I would share 13 highlights with you;

Sleeping In All the way to 10:00. A pleasure I only get on holidays.

Long Hot Shower The kids never sleep in so they were up at dawn's crack and long gone to terrorize the neighborhood by the time I got to the shower. Plenty of hot water and no rushing to be late for work.

Blogging I am terrible about blogging on holidays especially ones that fall on Saturday or Sunday. I made an effort this year to post about Memorial Day. Especially after the great sermon Pastor preached Sunday morning about remembering.

Rush to the Store The new Sav-A-Lot to get hot dog and hamburger buns. Plus I was having severe Coca Cola withdrawal symptoms.

The Invitation A friend from church called and invited me to join him and his family at Progressive Field to watch the Cleveland Indians play. He had special tickets good for extra innings.

The Preparation My step-dad had barbecued all day Sunday. My niece had been cooking Sunday and since 5:00am on Monday. She has announced that there will never bee another holiday cookout that she will be in charge of.

The Meal There was steaks, pork chops, spare ribs, hamburgers, hot dogs, collard greens, macaroni and cheese, baked beans, potato salad, pop, and cake.

Nuclear Destruction of My Enemies I played a relaxing game of Supreme Commander which has more nuclear explosions than any computer game ever made.

Rush to the Store The new Sav-A-Lot to get paper towels, paper napkins, and more charcoal before "they" arrived.

~~The Family~~ Faceless Hordes that Descended Like Locusts Upon My Home Oh they started coming and they just kept coming and coming and coming. Arrrgh!

Hasty Retreat to the Environs of Garfield Heights With my exit strategy announced in advanced I drove off to where my friend and his family lives. From there it was just a quick 15 minute trip to downtown Cleveland and Progressive Field. Well a 30 minute trip since we had to turn around and go back and get the tickets that were still on the computer desk in his den.

An Exciting Sports Spectacle Eleven innings of nail biting excitement as the Tribe led the game, let Chicago tie, then lost spectacularly in the twelfth inning by THREE runs. At least there were fireworks.

Returning Home After Midnight I arrived to a quiet house, kids asleep. Good thing I had set aside a couple of pork chops and a burger, some mac and cheese and potato salad, because there was not a drop of food left in the pans. I resisted buying food at the stadium even though it was "Dollar Dog Night" and Sugardale sold over 37,000 hot dogs. I knew there would be a big plate of seconds for me carefully hidden in my office.

I had a great holiday which actually started Friday when I took an extra day off from work. We had a great Saturday preparing things and Sunday services were awesome! And I did take time to think about the men and women who sacrificed their lives so I could enjoy my long weekend in the greatest country on Earth! How was your holiday?

Dems in a Tizzy Over Bush's Remarks

Bush talks to the Israeli parliament on the 60th anniversary of the founding of the nation of Israel. He said "Anyone who claims talking to terrorists will result in peace is suffering a foolish delusion." The democrats got their collective shorts in a wad some claiming he specifically targeted Obama. White House Denies Bush Targeted Obama in Speech to Israeli Knesset

“Some seem to believe we should negotiate with terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along. We have heard this foolish delusion before. As Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939, an American senator declared: ‘Lord, if only I could have talked to Hitler, all of this might have been avoided.’ We have an obligation to call this what it is - the false comfort of appeasement, which has been repeatedly discredited by history,” the president said.

Obama, Clinton and most of the Democratic rank and file dogpiled on Bush's statement claiming he was politicizing while attacking Obama's foreign policy plan for Iran. They claimed Bush's policies were ineffective and they even feigned moral outrage at being compared to Nazi appeasers.

White House Press Secretary Dana Perino without having heard Obama or Clinton offered a very good perspective on the situation.

“I understand when you are running for office sometimes you think the world revolves around you. That is not always true and it is not true in this case. The president is president regardless of an election cycle and he is going to be president of the United States through January 20, 2009,” Perino said.

“We are not going to change policy based on the ‘08 election. We are not going to stop talking about the ideals of the United States because there is an ‘08 election. They can fight it out over there but this is not new policy."

And if things couldn't get stranger, Howard Dean called on John McCain to denounce Bush's statements. instead McCain questioned Obama's approach to foreign policy:

“I think Barack Obama needs to sit down and explain why he wants to talk with a man who is the head of a government that is a state sponsor of terror, that is responsible for the killing of brave young Americans, who wants to wipe Israel off the map, denies the Holocaust. That is what I think that Senator Obama ought to explain to the American people,” he said while on a bus to the airport.

“It is a serious error on the part of Senator Obama that shows naiveté and inexperience and lack of judgment to say that he wants to sit down across the table from an individual who leads a country who says that Israel is a stinking corpse, that is dedicated to the extinction of Israel. My question is what does he want to talk about?”

So The Dems feel Bush was attacking Democrats in general and Obama specifically. I particularly like Howard Deans "Well if you were really presidential material John McCain, you'd denouce what Bush said" approch. Who does he think he is? The Dems never fail to amuse.

Real Life - No Thursday Thirteen

I apologize, I know this is the second week in a row I neglected my Thursday Thirteen. But I have been buried at work and home. Add to that a battery of medical tests and scans and I have not had the time or energy to put 13 coherent thoughts together. I started my "gross" edition last week but never finished and I had hoped to get one in late today but fate had other plans.

Again I apologize and to make it up, I will give you a free McDonald's Chicken sandwich. Today only just rush over to Micky D's before 7:00PM but you have to buy your own medium or large drink. Tell 'em Dane sent you. There. That should do it!

Only in Great Britain I guess. There is an official church that follows the percieved beliefs of the Jedi from the Star Was films. A man dressed as Darth Vader attacks two "Jedi" masters with a metal crutch. 'Darth Vader' spared jail in Jedi attacks - Criminal weirdness says:

Arwel Wynne Hughes, 27, attacked Jedi church founder Barney Jones — aka Master Jonba Hehol — with a metal crutch, hitting him on the head, prosecutors told Holyhead Magistrates' Court.

He also whacked Jones' 18-year-old cousin, Michael Jones — known as Master Mormi Hehol — bruising his thigh in the March 25 incident, prosecutors said.

How did he get caught?

Unfortunately for Hughes, his March attack was recorded on a video camera that the cousins had set up to film themselves in a light saber battle.

Well there you have it. A church of the Jedi complete with ritual light saber duels. Can this world get any weirder? Maybe. The 2001 census in the UK say 390,000 people listed their religion as "Jedi".

McCain-Huckabee: Now that's the Ticket

Okay the rumor mill is running full tilt. Someone close to McCain has hinted that Mike Huckabee is on the short list for veep. That would be GREAT! Not that I have a strong opinion or anything. I think if McCain wants to be serious about energizing the conservative base, Huckabee's the man.

Huckabee was asked if he would accept the position. He effectively said he wouldn't reject the offer.

Bumper Sticker Rebuttal

I love good bumper Stickers. I have even posted some of my favorite sayings from bumper stickers here before. Normally I am very tolerant of bumper stickers that express views I don't hold or says something dumb. And these stickers are almost exclusively liberal in nature. Even so I don't get all worked up over anti-gun or anti-war stickers. Usually I don't.

I saw a bumper sticker over the weekend that got me on a slow boil and I needed to say something about it. The sticker:

War is a poor chisel with which to carve out tomorrow.

Okay on the surface it is typical anti-war rhetoric but it really started to get to me on other levels. So war is a poor chisel, but it is a chisel none the less and when you think about it, it has been the most effectively used chisel. Good or bad, war has shaped our world. I would challenge the genius who came up with this bit of wisdumb to list what he/she thinks is a better chisel. Oh and before you answer "Peace", keep in mind that peace has never been an effective tool in our world history. In fact there has never been a generation of peace since Solomon's reign. So what chisel was this moonbat thinking about?

I was also upset because other implications of this statement were that the Revolutionary War chisel which carved the tomorrow that is this nation, was a poor chisel, or the World War II chisel which carved the tomorrow that is a world free of Hitler's tyranny was a poor chisel. The mental midget who thought up this saying discounts the sacrifices and lives of all who fought for the freedom of others during these "poor chisels".

While I'm ranting I might as well take a shot at another popular moonbat sticker. It is one with "COEXIST" spelled out using the religious symbols from all the major religions. I would just like to point out to the Captain Oblivious who authored that sticker, that coexistence is not possible when doctrines of certain religions call for the extermination of the others. Get a clue. Or do moonbats really think that people with strongly held religious beliefs will simply put them aside to achieve the lovely dream state of "Coexistence"?

Okay you might accuse me of kicking her when she's down but I thought this was funny. I suspect, given the mathematical improbability of Hillary pulling enough delegates to get the nomination, that she will drag it to the convention and apply "Clintonian" pressure on the super delegates.

Obama is playing the confidence game, basically ignoring her and gearing up to face McCain. I wonder if the possibility exists of an Obama/Clinton ticket for the sake of the party. If so, and they win in November, I'd double up on the bullet proof vests if I were Barack.

Ink Cartridges for my Printer With $300 I might be able to get a complete set of 3 cartridges, or two new printers!

One Night in a Luxury Hotel Suite You know, the one with the jacuzzi and stocked fridge. A can of Coke is usually $2.00. Man, that's living.

900 Text Messages I don't have unlimited texting on my cell plan. If my teenage nephew get's hold of my phone again this is about what I would wind up paying. (His folks took his phone because they discovered he texted all day in school instead of doing school work.)

Dinner at a Fancy Restaurant If I can spend over $100 at an Outback, I am sure I could blow a wad at a really nice place. (Not that the Outback isn't nice. I love that place.)

He's Getting Senile

Fox News reports: Palestinians: Carter Achieved Nothing which is what everyone said would happen. Carter is now claiming that SOS Dr. Rice never told him NOT to go, coming short of saying she lied about her statement. Hmmm. Everyone said it was counter productive and would undermine the efforts in palestinian relations but there was no clear signal from the state department that he shouldn't do it? I think Jimmy needs to be put out to his peanut pasture. What part of "It's a bad idea all around" did he fail to grasp? How infantile do you have to be to believe that when everybody tells you something is wrong, you still get to make the judgement call based on your own thinking that everything will be all right?

Now the legitimate palestinian spokesman has labeled Carter's trip a failure, accomlishing nothing. What do you want to bet it doesn't sink in to James Earl's thick skull? Up there in CloudCooCooLand where he apparently resides he is just basking in the warmth of his success and greatness. He'll probably want another Nobel Peace Prize.

Tuesday was Earth Day. I conserved energy by sleeping in. They shut the lights off at work for an hour. I'm sure the energy saved cool the climate or caused a tree to sprout somewhere or something. I believe in not polluting the environment but I don't subscribe to the predictions of doom by the eco-prophets. And a lot of the so called science behind the claims of environmentalists leaves me leery. But in the spirit of the day I have put together this list of Fun Facts!

Recycling one aluminum can saves enough energy to watch a TV for three hours. T.V. is so crappy these days that I'd rather skip three hours and produce a new aluminum can.

if every newspaper was recycled, we could save about 250,000,000 trees each year. At the rate rags like WaPo and NYT are hemorrhaging readers, this goal is doable.

The patron Saint of ecologists is St. Francis He believed in conserving water by not bathing or washing his clothes. He was also the patron saint of body odor.

Rain forests are being cut down at the rate of 100 acres per minute!Every week about 20 species of plants and animals become extinct! At this rate there will be no trees by next Tuesday at 11:33AM. But that's okay because all species of life will be extinct by then.

I am sure I will get it from the eco-purists out there, but I was just having fun. But when you think about it, can the earth's eco system be so delicate that it will careen out of kilter over a few tons of man-made trash, when for centuries, mother earth herself has belched contaminants into her atmosphere in quantities that makes man's contribution look like a soda spill? Wildfires and volcanoes chuck more "green house gases" into the air than all the cars combined. So why are we sweating?

Carter-Hamas Meeting Comes on 25th Anniversary of Deadly Terror Attack
So Governor Carter is at it again. (If you're a liberal and just took offense at me referring to James Earl as Governor, instead of Former President, you should learn the proper forms of address for EX-presidents.) Yet against the wishes of the state department and members of congress Carter met with Hamas chief Khaled Meshal.

The U.S. State Department twice advised Carter against meeting Hamas leaders before he left on his Mideast trip earlier this week. More than 50 members of Congress also urged Carter not to meet Meshal, saying it would confer legitimacy on the group behind some 250 homicide bombings that have killed numerous Israelis.

Hamas officials say the meetings have lent their group legitimacy which means JEC is successfully undermining our efforts against Hamas and terrorism. Why? What does he think he is doing? Well according to him he is laying the groundwork for Israeli-Palestinian peace. I guess memories of his Nobel Prize have lulled him into a sense of adequacy. No one but Carter will talk to Hamas so how then does he think he will usher in this great dialog? The man is so full of himself it makes me ill.

When I imagined myself as the first black man to run for President, I always considered my Christian testimony and the part my pastor would play in it. I could not think of kicking him to the curb or ignoring my association with him. As a fundamental Baptist preacher he is prone to say controversial things from the pulpit. Controversial to the ears of the world but not to God. The world might think it hateful when he preaches on sanctification and separation especially when he says to remain separate from worldly influences. My pastor always preaches the Word. If he talks about political issues, it is from a spiritual point of view and based on scripture, not personal opinion. My political views are shaped by my faith and my faith is shaped by the preaching and teaching of God’s Word and God’s Word is presented by my preacher. It was his ministry that led me to Christ and it was under his ministry that I grew as a Christian. So I cannot conceive of any time or situation where I would distance myself from him or his teachings and comments.

Well I probably won’t ever run for President but Obama is trying hard to. So I wonder about what his testimony is. He obviously embraced his pastor and his teachings at one point. But now he is putting as much distance as he can between himself and Reverend Wright. Why? Does he or doesn’t he believe the man? Is Wright Obama’s spiritual leader or isn’t he? If not then who? Shouldn’t we get to know who is the spiritual guidance of one of America’s potential Presidents?

But if Wright is Obama’s guru then aren’t we within our right to question comments the man has made publicly? Shouldn’t we be aware of what was taught by Wright and received by Obama? Isn’t this part of Barack Obama’s testimony?

Wright is in the news again, making comments against Fox News personalities. He was at a funeral of all places. I think he likes the spotlight and plans to take full advantage of his fifteen minutes. Where does that leave the Obama campaign?
