13 Things About Dane Bramage
13 People Who Passed On in 2007
People tend to reflect at the end of the year on what has happened during the last 365 days. I thought I would mention 13 people who passed away this year.
- Ike Turner, controversial Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, age 76
- Anna Nicole Smith, Playmate, Reality TV star, age 39
- Luciano Pavoratti, legendary Italian tenor, age 71
- Yvonne De Carlo, actress (Lily on the "Munsters"), age 84
- Claudia "Lady Bird" Johnson, former First Lady of the United States 1963-1969, age 94
- Boris Yeltsin, Former Russian President, age 76
- Jane Wyman, actress (Angela Channing on "Falcon Crest") and 1st wife of Ronald Reagan, age 90
- Rex Humbard, TV Evangelist ("Cathedral of Tomorrow") age 88 A local legend as well. He used to broadcast from here in Akron (okay Cuyahoga Falls but how many of you ever heard of that place?)
- Gen. Paul Tibbets, pilot of the Enola Gay which dropped the bomb on Hiroshima, age 92
- Tom Poston, actor (Cliff Murdock on "The Bob Newhart Show") age 85
- Kurt Vonnegut, author ("Slaughterhouse-Five") age 84 He also wrote the controversial "Breakfast of Champions". I think my favorites were "Cat's Cradle" and "Dead Eye Dick".
- Rev. Jerry Falwell, Founder and Chancellor of Liberty University, age 73 A moral voice and pain in liberal sides for decades
- Robert Goulet, singer/actor (Sir Lancelot in "Camelot") age 73
This list is by no means exhaustive. Others like, Evil Knievel, Ingmar Berman,Dick "Mr. Whipple" Wilson, Joey Bishop, Alice Ghostley, Lois "Miss Moneypenny" Maxwell, and Art Buchwald also left us in 2007. Were any of these people special to you too? Let us know in the comments

Yes we had some great losses this year....actors and authors. I always like to reflect on those we have lost and what they mean to me. Just lost a family friend to brain cancer 3 days before Christmas, most poignant loss for us this year, but Vonnegut would rank high on my list.
I usually only hear about most of them when (if) I watch the Oscars...
Life is so fleeting...none of these people were very special to me at all. I heard about them..but that is about it.
That was a great TT!
I lost a school buddy right before Thanksgiving. She died suddenly. It was so sad. I wish the "world" could have known about her life. She was an amazing person!
The loss of Lady B was a sad sad thing.
2007 was hard on us too personally, we lost my special friend Doreen, known to my children as Grandpa Riley. I will miss her great spirit and her horrible puns.
Happy TT

I've been reflecting a little myself the last few days. I'm also wishing a little too. Stop by my "This Is My Wish" TT.
Live, laugh, love, and learn in 2008.
I'm still trying to grasp the fact that 365 days have actually passed since last year at this time ;-)
I didn't even realize some of these people passed this year...some of them, I haven't heard of!
Have a wonderful new year!
Interesting list! Makes you think about how short life is!
Wonderful tribute to some cool folks who are now longer with us. Ruth Graham Bell also passed away this year.
What an interesting list. I like how you also included what they were famous for.
The saddest news for me was hearing of Terry Pratchett's Alzheimer's disease. Each year always takes away some shining stars...this is a thoughtful and interesting list.
I have three TTs this week:

I'd already forgotten many of these. Interesting how we move on.
A very nice tribute. I was particularly sad about Vonnegut, but a lot of these people factored into my life at one time or another, sometimes in very unexpected ways.
Thank you. As sad as it is to remember the losses, honoring those who have passed is also its own comfort.

Wow. I didn't realize that we lost Vonnegut and Mailer in the same year! Sad. (Thanks for visiting my TT)
I actually blogged about the deaths of Jane Wyman and Ike Turner when they happened. When I first read the news that Wyman had died, the news link that Yahoo orig. had made me mad. It referred to her simply as the first wife of Ronald Reagan. Although this is true, she had other accomplishments (such as winning an Oscar) that they could have mentioned. Yahoo did update the link to reflect this later in the day. When I wrote about Ike Turner, I said that I felt it was important to remember his musical contributions and not focus solely on his sordid personal life.
By the way, thanks for stopping by and commenting on my TT about "The Twilight Zone".
I like the new template!
The one loss that really hit me was Beverly Sills. She was so remarkable.

The Pink Flamingo
I never knew Lady B's real name before. And between your TT and the end of 2007, Benazir Bhutto is taken from us by religious fanatics. There are still 3 days to go. I wonder if any more famous people will die.
Sorry I'm late stopping by this week. This is a sobering list--some I knew about, some I didn't. My most affecting loss was Aunt Hope, a lovely, smart, kind lady who was only my aunt in spirit. She died last week at the age of 94.
Hope you have a happy new year!
God Bless!
Luciano Pavarotti was my dad's favourite, and in that way special to me. A lot of people have left us, famous and not; they'll be dearly missed!
Thanks for visiting my resolutions TT.
