Because Everybody Is Entitled To My Opinion

"O LORD, revive thy work in the midst of the years, . . . in wrath remember mercy" (Habakkuk 3:2).

This was kind of fun. Type the answers to these questions into Google Images and select one image from the first page of results.

  1. Age at next birthday
    Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
LSD 49 is the Harper's Ferry. LSD stands for dock landing ship. I guess the order of the letters isn't important.

  2. Place I'd like to travel
    Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
St. Thomas looks pretty cool. Besides I couldn't find any pictures of mars I liked.

  3. Favorite place
    Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
    There's no place like it!

  4. Favorite objects
    Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

  5. Favorite food
    Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
It is no secret that I could subsist on nothing but chicken seven days a week. Fried has got to be my favorite way of having it.

  6. Nickname
    Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
    Just Kev.

  7. Place you were born
    Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Not exactly a recognizable skyline but I was born in the Rubber Capital of the World. Akron Ohio, also known for the American Soap Box Derby.

  8. Town you live in
    Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
From the same page of images, since I live in the place I was born, here is Lebron James' high school jersey. Those colors are for St. Vincent-St. Marys, a couple blocks from here.

  9. Your middle name
    Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Despite the controversy surrounding my middle name I have decided to go with what's on the birth certificate; Jessio.

  10. Your last name
    Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
    OMG! Cady left ATWT!

  11. First job
    Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
And basically the only job since 1984

  12. Bad Habit

It might be procrastination; or it could be

  13. Grandmother's name
    Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
My maternal grandmother was Leoda. Leonardo Da Vinci drew this picture. Not of my grandmother mind you.

Very Interesting...

Some of you may have seen or even participated in a photo meme going around. You are to go to Google Images and type in various keywords and post the picture that best suits the question.

Well one of the things you are supposed to type in is your name. I typed in Dane. Simple enough. Dogs. Pages and pages of Great Danes. So I typed in Dane Bramage and the first couple of pages were full of my pictures from this blog. It was kind of weird seeing so many of my photos in one place on a web search.

Well I have decided that this year most of my meme and photo related blogging will be done on my other blog but I may do this meme for a Thursday Thirteen.

13 Things About Dane Bramage
13 More Answers to the 100 Questions Meme

Well I had an attack of lazyitis and Thursday snuck up on me again so I pulled out the old 100 Questions Meme. Here are the next 13 answers.

  1. 16. WHAT KIND OF HAIR/EYE COLOR DO YOU LIKE ON THE OPPOSITE SEX? I am not picky at this point in my life. I'd be happy that she had hair and eyes. I really have no preference but tend to shy away from unnatural colors, the greens, violets, oranges.

  2. 17. WOULD YOU RATHER BE SMART OR FUNNY? Fortunately I'm blessed with being both. :-) But if I had to lose one in an accident, I'd rather be smart than funny. The world is full of funny dummies.

  3. 18. COFFEE OR ENERGY DRINKS? Java by the potload

  4. 19. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PIZZA TOPPING? Fungus. Although I do like sausage and anchovies too. YES ANCHOVIES!

  5. 20. IF YOU CAN EAT ANYTHING RIGHT NOW, WHAT WOULD IT BE? A sub. Lots of cold cuts and cheese.

  6. 21. WHO IS THE LAST PERSON YOU MADE MAD? Probably Dave and it was after he made me mad. I don't think we are ever going to get past it. Shame too. 20 years of friendship down the crapper.

  7. 22. DO YOU SPEAK ANOTHER LANGUAGE? No. I took French in school but when our regular French teacher left on maternity leave we got some pervert in who gave me the only "D" I ever received in my academic career. So when I got to high school I switched to Latin which is a written language.

  8. 23. WHAT WAS THE FIRST GIFT SOMEONE EVER GAVE YOU? How would I know? I am sure I was too young to remember.

  9. 24. DO YOU LIKE SOMEONE? Several someones. But if you mean am I dating anyone right now, the answer is no. Halle and Tyra aren't returning my calls and Condi issued that restraining order thing.

  10. 25. ARE YOU DOUBLE JOINTED? I wish.

  11. 26. FAVORITE CLOTHING BRAND? Anything that comes in XXXL. My jeans are of course Lardache.

  12. 27. WHAT'S YOUR DREAM CAR? I wanted to get a Grand Cherokee last year but it was not to be.

  13. 29. WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE KIND OF EXERCISE? I invented a low impact squat that anyone can do anywhere at anytime. In fact I did about a hundred a few minutes ago. They're called "Diddly Squats".

Well there you have it. Another quick look at the twisted brain of Dane. Got a question? Leave it in the comments.

A Meme for Tuesday

Okay I have been tagged by Eve at AdamsWife's Weblog with this little meme. I am suppose to grab the nearest book of at least 123 pages and turn to page 123. The only problem is that the nearest book is a Microsoft course book on C#. I was using it to elevate my laptop to elbow height on the stand I was using. The reason it is a problem is that while there are many times 123 pages, each chapter starts back at page 1. So there are no actual page 123s and to determine what page is actually 123 would require stuff like math and that is too much work. So the next nearest book that fits the qualifications is Prayer-Asking and Receiving by Dr. John R. Rice. Then take three sentences starting with the fifth. The excerpt I'm supposed to post is as follows:
Think how many of our public prayers are indefinite, not asking anything of God and not getting anything! For example, the secretary of a preacher in an Illinois city not long ago told how the minister who employed her had already written out his public prayers for the next four months! So not in one of those prayers would the preacher be praying, “Heavenly Father, save my next-door neighbor who is here today.”

Dr. Rice is one of my Pastor's heroes and the book is dynamite. It was originally copyrighted in 1942 and is considered by many as the authoratative book on prayer. Our church bookstore got in a fresh shipment and I got a nice hardbound copy.

Now I am suppose to tag five people but I am offering a general self tag. If this meme appeals to you then feel free to be tagged. The meme instructions are here. If decide to play let me know in the comments.

Random Acts of Memeness

The Random Yak has tagged me with a meme. My meme policy is to only participate if I feel like it or if the person who tagged you is really cool. Likewise when I tag someone I let them know they are under no obligation in my eyes to participate.
The rules of the meme:
  • When tagged, you must link to the person who tagged you (RandomYak).
  • Then post the rules before your list, (that'd be this thing here) and list eight random things about yourself.
  • At the end of the post, you must tag and link to eight other people.

So this is the Random Eight Meme. I pick eight random things about me to share. I am not quite sure how that works. Should I take everything about me and put it in a hat and draw out eight? Yeah let's do just that.
  • Thing #238 I am participating in the NaNoWriMo this year. My NaNoWriMo name is Kevlord. I am writing a science fiction novel and I am pleased as punch with my progress so far. I am also certain that my novel is crap. I am very pleased about that too, believe it or not. It's all about the learning experience.

  • Thing #2 Currently I live alone in my own home. The "People Under The Stairs" are gone. Can anyone tell me the best way to clean dried cat crap off a cement floor? Or where to find those scrub brushes with long handles? And I think I need a floor squigee. And a respirator.

  • Thing #446 I have been dreaming about dead people Weird. For several nights I have been dreaming about relatives and friends who are all dead. Do I need a shrink or a psychic?

  • Thing #37 This is National Games Week Me and a bunch of my gamer friends are all going to get together Friday and play games for 12 hours. At least those of us with the day off. The rest will probably show up after five. We rented a pavilion and plan to consume Thanksgiving leftovers. Stop by if you are in West Akron near Sand Run Metro Park, Shady Hollow Pavilion. Bring food and games.

  • Thing #7 I am singing "Birthday For A King" as a solo in church. Again. I sang it last year too. I must get a new song by Christmas 2008.

  • Thing #879 I am oddly fascinated by the anime "Bleach". I don't know why. I've been TiVo'ing it for two weeks now and I am actually looking forward to each episode. I puts me in mind of early Dragon Ball Z and I hated DBZ.

  • Thing #42 I have been a Bus Captain at church for 12 years. That makes me the longest serving Bus Captain. I am really sad that everyone who was a Bus Captain when I started are out of that ministry now. (although some have move on to different ministries).

  • Thing #89 When I turn 50 years old in 2009, I'll celebrate with a Sci-Fi Masque Planning it now. Come as your favorite Sci-Fi or Superhero character. I am looking forward to that and with this much advanced planning how can it not be great?

Now, for the tagees, I choose;
  1. Eddie at EddieButler.com

  2. JAM at Least Significant Bits

  3. Chelle Y at The Story of Me

  4. Mitchypoo at Knitting and Losing

  5. QTPies7 at My Seven QTPies

  6. Nicholas at A Gentleman's Domain

  7. Malcolm at Pop Culture Dish

  8. Darla at nichtszusagen
Well I hope you all enjoyed this memey goodness!

I Am Very Well Unread

Okay I saw this meme over at Starrlight's blog and thought it would be cool to at least attempt it. Afterwards I felt so unread I am a little embarrassed.
The meme rules are:
Bold those you've read.
Italicize books you have started but couldn't finish.
Add an asterisk* to those you have read more than once.
Underline those on your To Be Read list.

Since my style sheet and various formatting don't go well together I thought I would just color code everything.

Anyway here is the legend

Blue Titles are books I have read.
Cyan Titles are books that I started but never finished.
Green Titles are those I plan to read someday maybe when I retire and have extra time or not.
White Titles are those I have heard about or know so much about I don't plan to read the book.

13 Things About Dane Bramage

13 Answers from the 100 Question Meme

Well I thought it would be a good idea to let people get to know me a little more. So I am going to answer the first 13 questions in the "100 Questions" meme. And the next time a Wednesday rolls around and I realize I don't have a Thursday Thirteen done, I'll answer the next 13 questions!

  1. ONE OF YOUR SCARS, HOW DID YOU GET IT?
My Siamese cat Mr. Murphy bit me on the nose.

  2. WHAT IS ON THE WALLS IN YOUR ROOM?
Which room? This one has grease, dust, and splatters of undeterminable substances.

  3. WHAT DOES YOUR CELL PHONE LOOK LIKE?

I have an eclectic taste in music. I like jazz, classical, R&B, gospel and some forms of rock.

  5. DO YOU KNOW WHAT TIME YOU WERE BORN?
I don't remember. It was kind of hectic with all the screaming and the slapping going on.

  6. WHAT DO YOU WANT MORE THAN ANYTHING RIGHT NOW?
About four thousand dollars. That would catch me up with everything.

  7. WHO DO YOU MISS?
My best friend. I miss talking to him.

  8. WHAT'S YOUR MIDDLE NAME?
That is open to debate. Officially on my birth certificate it is Jessio. But it is supposed to be Jessenio according to my late father.

  13. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE COLOGNE/PERFUME?
Stetson. Although I have tried some Avon colognes for men that I like but they are a bit pricey.

There you have it. Thirteen tiny glimpses into me. Although officially I answered questions 1 through 15. It appears that the two different sources I used for the questions both omitted # 8 and #9. If you know what they are suppose to be let me know.

Read Me and Think

qtpies7 over at Our Seven Qtpies has given me a Thinking Blogger Award! Woot! Woot!

Read Me and Think

Hmmm. Is it me or does the image resemble an alien grey with a recycle symbol on its forehead? That makes me think. Anyway it is a meme so I have to come up with 5 blogs that make me think. That will be difficult, not because I don't read blogs that make me think, but because most of the blogs I read have already been tagged. So let me try to come up with 5 and if they have already been tagged then so be it.
  • Well there's Lyn over at Bloggin Outloud He always make me think and he has started updating his blog again.

  • Then there's chrys at Pettifogs Jots and Tittles Her site is impressive so when you go plan to stay awhile.

  • Strap on your thinking caps when you visit Dani at Generation X-pose Always a dose of Truth with no apologies. Not for the spiritually faint.

  • Then there are the yaks over at The Random Yak Don't let the title fool you. They are very deliberate in their thought provoking observations.

  • and last but not least is Eddie over at EddieButtler.com He always has a unique perspective on events.

So now the official meme stuff to all the tagged bloggers:

Congratulations, you won a Thinking Blogger Award

Read Me and Think

Should you choose to participate, please make sure you pass this list of rules to the blogs you are tagging.
The participation rules are simple:
  1. If, and only if, you get tagged, write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think;

  2. Link to this post so that people can easily find the exact origin of the meme;

  3. (Optional:) Proudly display the 'Thinking Blogger Award' with a link to the post that you wrote.(You have a choice of silver or gold!)

Thanks qtpies7 and Congrats to all the winners! Woot! Woot!
