The Quote and Epigram Edition

Quotes are popular subject of Thursday Thirteen lists. I am nothing if not a mindless toady... a dedicated follower of fashion a aficionado of trends. (Good thing I installed that politically correct filter he he.) So here are 13 quotes that got me to thinking; (NOTE: I have some epigrams here as well. I don't know who may have said them so I marked them as "unknown". If you know the source, let me know so I can update the post and my notes.)

    --Benjamin Elijah Mays
  3. "Instead of comparing our lot with that of those who are more fortunate than we are, we should compare it with the lot of the great majority of our fellow men. It then appears that we are among the privileged."
    --Helen Keller
  4. Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power.
    --Abraham Lincoln
  5. As a former fetus I oppose abortion.

  8. I am for the separation of liberalism and state.
  9. "Simply consider why those blacks who have been accused of bad behavior or demonstrate questionable character do not have their 'blackness' questioned, but those who are conservative and/or preach the virtues of hard work do.
    --Juliette "Baldilocks" Ochieng, conservative Republican
  10. Many a man's reputation would not know his character if they met on the street.
    --Elbert Hubbard (1856-1915)
  11. It is inevitable that some defeat will enter even the most victorious life. The human spirit is never finished when it is defeated... it is finished when it surrenders.
    --Ben Stein
  12. But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
--Philippians 4:19 authored by The Holy Spirit.(This is my life's verse
